Emergent Modelling Common Errors

This is simple processing providing you do not make any of the following errors:

  • The facilitator didn't get the client to focus on the misunderstood areas of their world.
  • The facilitator didn't acknowledge the client.
  • The facilitator didn't understand what the client originated.
  • The facilitator acknowledged the client before he actually understood what was said or done.
  • The facilitator agreed it couldn’t be done.
  • The facilitator accepted an area the client didn’t want to improve at all.
  • The facilitator didn't use the client's exact wording.
  • The facilitator doesn't understand Emergence and why it works.
  • The facilitator hasn’t got the idea yet that he is clarifying meanings and clearing up puzzles the client has.
  • The facilitator has never listened to the client.
  • The facilitator touched or moved the client’s clay.
  • The facilitator commented on or evaluated the client's work.
  • The client has no idea what “represent” actually means.
  • The client and facilitator are not communicating with each other.
  • The client is not labelling every object they make with its correct significance as they go along.
  • The client did not fully represent their issue, the client cannot be expected to produce clear representations of something they do not yet fully comprehend.
