Emergent Modelling Processes

There are currently three main processes in Emergent Modelling, these are generalised below. A separate document is available for each process, which provides far more depth.

Basic

In the basic process, the facilitator has the client represent their issue and iterates through the developing questions until the client comes to a moment of new understanding about the problem and experiences a positive change in themselves.

Advanced

In the advanced process, the facilitator begins the same as the basic process, then focuses on locating whereabouts the client is confused or unsure. This will become the focus of the session, this focus is then given a word or symbol by the client that encompasses the confusion/problem area – once this is decided upon, the client will define that word or symbol by representing it in clay.

This process is based on the premise that the clients confusion or difficulty is locked up in their inability to fully comprehend that word or symbol. Having the client define it in clay, begins to take down the structures holding that secondary world in place by coming to a new understanding of it. The process is complete, like the basic process, when the client experiences a positive change in themselves.

Healing

Here the client, represents their ailment in clay and also the body part most associated with that ailment. Then they begin to form and place the requirements that should go near that body part. Each requirement is made and explored before moving on to a new one. Once the first body part is cleared of issues, then a new body part is located until no other parts can be found and the original ailment is relieved.
